set the table for autumn

In anticipation of the shorter days and cooler nights we have been making the most of the last glimmers of sunshine, wrapped up in a blanket, enjoying alfresco suppers with friends. Autumn is a season of much change, the landscape brims with texture and the vibrant colours of summer slowly start to transform into the warming tones of autumn.

Inspired by the many textures, layers, and earthy hues of this beautiful season, we like to use speckled clays and rustic glazes when putting together an autumnal setting. Our Toasted range of plates and bowls are the perfect choice of dinnerware, with their flecked appearance and matte, off-white glaze offering a charming backdrop for delicious treats. Finding inspiration in the rippling water of countryside streams, our Ebba folded platter always plays a part in our settings, a beautiful centrepiece displaying tempting canapés. The adorable Eli bowls are small but impactful; on this occasion we used them as salt and pepper servers, but they are also the ideal size to hold a tea light, bringing a warm glow to any table setting.

No tablescape is complete without a little decoration, the Ophelia vase, with its hand-carved detail, stands pride of place displaying dried autumnal blooms, while luxe cutlery adds a touch of indulgence. A tumbled linen tablecloth and complementary rust-coloured napkins add a relaxed elegance, and we couldn’t resist a few colourful pumpkins scattered here and there.

We’re lucky enough to have beautiful walks and whimsical woodlands right on our doorstep. As the tides change, we love nothing more than heading out on a crisp morning for a stroll through majestic countryside, where rust-coloured leaves tumble like falling snow from towering treetops, and branches of all shapes and sizes lead the way to inspirational corners. Our beloved collie dog Barley is in her element bounding around, chasing after leaves that get whipped up by the wind and jumping on fallen tree trunks to survey the land that surrounds her. She’s the perfect companion, helping us forage for woodland treasures; sticks of all shapes and sizes and delicate grasses that we can use for our autumnal tablescapes.
